Virtual Sketch Date

Sunquats
5 x 4 colored pencils on Colourfix
Miki Willa
I did this for the July Virtual Sketch Date. This is the first time I participated. Once again, I have to applaud all the colored pencil artists out there. I find this a very difficult medium. Go to the Virtual Sketch Date site for more information and the reference photo. I cropped it pretty drastically before I started drawing.

Hi Miki,
I like the close up crop.

Colored pencils can be maddening if you don't typically use them.
I think you got a colorful result!

I really liked those cast shadows too...but I didn't make them work as well you did! Very nice.

Thanks for joining in.

Good job with coloured pencils :) it is a very well done sketch with lots of light. CPs are a hard medium to learn sometimes, but you are doing a good job learning.

Miki, I like the super close up and the purple in the background! You definitely achieved the roundness of the fruit. I can't imagine tackling a VSD with colored pencils. I a horribly slow when I use colored pencils.

I love the way you cropped this. You have made the contrast and shadows the focal point of the piece. Nice work.

I like the very close crop and the negative spaces it produces; the variety in your blues and purples is lovely; a perfect complement to the orange. (I find colored pencils a challenge too!)
